Dear Huimin,
Thank you for taking interest in our double degree course, commencing
in
July 2005.
The School of Biological Sciences offers both the 4-yrs honours course
in Biological Sciences, as well as the 5-yrs double degree course in
Biomedical Sciences. Both courses differ in the emphasis of the
teaching
material. Biological Sciences is the study of living things, such as
bacteria, viruses, insects, animals and human beings, and the latter
emphasise more on the human species. Hence, different courses all
together, though some minor modules may overlap.
For the double degree, there is an equal emphasis on both TCM and
biomedical science. The viable career paths for graduates from our
DDegree course, which are as follows:
a. R&D scientists focusing on TCM natural products
b. TCM practitioners (with the pre-requisite of passing the examination
issued by the TCM Board after the completion of our DDegree course)
c. Careers in TCM and biomedical industries (hospitals, laboratories,
research centre, herbal shops)
The intake this year is 30 at this point of time.
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Jennis Tan
